Webinar: Forest Microbiomes and Ecosystem Resilience

September 17 @ 1:00 pm2:30 pm

Webinar by British Ecological Society: explore how microbial communities in trees, bark, roots, and soils contribute to forest health, ecosystem functioning, climate regulation, and resilience.

As forests face increasing pressures from climate change, emerging diseases, drought, and habitat degradation, understanding these microbial communities is becoming increasingly important for sustaining healthy and resilient forests.

The webinar is part of International Microorganism Day (IMD), a global celebration held annually on 17 September to recognise the tiny but mighty organisms that shape our world. Led by the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), IMD highlights the important roles microorganisms play in health, food, the environment, and everyday life.

The Forest Ecology SIG webinar has been included in the official IMD 2026 events programme for the United Kingdom.
