What is AnaEE-ERIC?

Advancing ecosystem science in a changing world

Keeping ecosystems healthy and productive is a key issue for the future of the planet. More scientific knowledge is needed in order to safeguard the services they provide and to develop a sustainable bioeconomy. AnaEE-ERIC (Analysis and Experimentation on Ecosystems) is the European Research Infrastructure for climate-change research, forecasting the future of ecosystems. The uniqueness of our facilities is the experimental approach, where ecosystems can be manipulated and exposed to changes, such as pollution, biological invasions, greenhouse gas emissions and extreme events such as droughts and heatwaves. By combining this with modelling, we can predict how ecosystems will respond in the future, including identifying tipping points and understanding how ecosystems can adapt.

The EU-funded AgroServ project will study the threats and challenges and deepen our understanding of how to achieve a resilient and sustainable agrifood system. This transdisciplinary project will bring together all actors of the agriculture system. Farmers are the first, thanks to a wide offer of living labs across Europe. By delivering a Europe-wide data ecosystem, AgroServ aims to grow the agroecology research community and support the cross-fertilisation of knowledge.
