An important milestone was reached as the host agreement for our Technology Centre with the University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet) was approved and the position for the Centre leader will be announced within the coming weeks.
The 7th Assembly of Members, June 17-18, was opened by Maria Egstrand, Head of European Innovation and Research Infrastructure at the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science, who welcomed attendees to this significant gathering.
AnaEE Denmark showcased their national node, presenting the latest innovations and research findings that demonstrate the network’s continued advancement in ecosystem research capabilities.
Technology Centre Approved: A Strategic Milestone
A major breakthrough was achieved during the assembly with the formal approval of the host agreement for AnaEE’s Technology Centre with the University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet). The position for the Centre leader will be announced in the coming weeks, bringing the Technology Centre closer to full operational status.
This approval represents a crucial step toward AnaEE’s goal of having all research centres fully operational by 2025, significantly enhancing the network’s capacity to support cutting-edge ecosystem research across Europe.
About the Technology Centre
The Technology Centre serves as AnaEE’s hub for technological advancement and standardization across the network. Hosted by the University of Copenhagen, the centre will play a vital role in ensuring that AnaEE platforms remain at the forefront of scientific innovation.
The Technology Centre’s core mission encompasses seven key areas of activity:
Harmonization and Standardization: The centre works to standardize instruments and procedures across all AnaEE platforms, ensuring consistency and comparability of research outputs throughout the network.
Technology Working Groups: Led by internationally renowned scientists, these groups develop and refine experimental procedures and measurement techniques, focusing on method standardization and the adoption of emerging technological developments.
Technology Foresight Workshops: These specialized gatherings bring together experts to identify promising new technologies and determine how they can be adapted for ecosystem science applications.
Innovation Development: The centre pursues both demand-driven and supply-driven innovation through strategic collaborations with national platforms, research laboratories, and private sector partners.
Demonstration Projects: These initiatives focus on developing and validating novel technologies, such as advanced soil water sampler and analyzer systems that provide real-time data on critical ecosystem properties.
Training and Capacity Building: The centre offers comprehensive theoretical and practical workshops for platform personnel, with particular emphasis on industry policy and Intellectual Property Rights management.
Technology Portal: A centralized digital platform provides network-wide access to standards, protocols, and technical solutions through the AnaEE portal system.
Facility Visit Highlights Research Excellence
The assembly concluded with an informative visit to FOLOUM, one of AnaEE Denmark’s premier research facilities. The tour was expertly led by Poul Erik Lærke, Klaus Steenberg Larsen, and Sander Bruun, who demonstrated the facility’s capabilities and ongoing research initiatives.
Looking Forward
The successful conclusion of the 7th Assembly of Members reinforces AnaEE’s commitment to advancing ecosystem research through technological innovation and international collaboration. With the Technology Centre agreement now in place and all centres on track for full operation in 2025, the network is positioned to deliver increasingly valuable services to the scientific community and beyond.
The event’s success was made possible through the dedicated efforts of all organizing participants, and the productive discussions throughout the assembly have strengthened confidence in AnaEE’s ability to continue pushing the boundaries of ecosystem science research.
