Call for abstracts open for the first eLTER Science Conference - June 2025

The first eLTER Science Conference will take place 23-27 June 2025. We are excited to announce that the Scientific Programme is now published, and the Call for Abstracts is open!

The eLTER Science Conference will bring together a diverse community of researchers, policymakers, and site coordinators, working in the fields of ecosystem research, environmental observations, and sustainability. We invite researchers across disciplines who are striving for the holistic approaches needed to understand the complex interactions between living organisms, humans, and their physical environment in the critical zone. The conference will nurture disciplinary and multi-, inter-, and transdisciplinary dialogue of researchers and science stakeholders.

The scientific sessions will span from Unraveling the mysterious role of groundwater in ecosystem dynamics to Ecosystem restoration, and from Novel technologies in environmental monitoring to Integrated observations in the atmosphere-biosphere continuum. Policy-relevant topics include e.g. Carbon farming and Studying the sustainability of globally embedded socio-ecological systems. The topics reflect our ambition for the inter-and transdisciplinary approach, and for crossing boundaries and building a common understanding on a range of environmental challenges.

All sessions are convened by at least two researchers representing different disciplines, who have invited a prominent keynote to inspire the attendees and present their latest research. Additionally, each session will feature a number of oral and poster presentations, complemented by workshops and field excursions to some of the best examples of eLTER instrumented sites and nature conservation areas close by.

The Abstract submission is done through the ARPHA Abstract management system, and the deadline for submission is January 31, 2025. After the eLTER Science Conference 2025, the Proceedings (abstract collection) are published, and the ACA system (ARPHA Conference Abstracts)  disseminates, indexes and archives all abstracts. Each abstract is registered at Crossref and assigned with its own DOI. All presenters must Register for the conference prior to the final approval of their extended abstract for publication.
