The Nature Restoration Law, which took effect on August 18, is a pivotal regulation aimed at restoring the EU's biodiversity, halting further biodiversity loss, and supporting climate neutrality by 2050. This law sets ambitious targets, requiring EU Member States to implement restoration measures across at least 20% of the EU's land and sea areas by 2030, with the goal of expanding these efforts to all ecosystems in need by 2050.
AnaEE-ERIC actively supports this critical legislation by contributing to research that underpins its implementation. Through our participation in key projects like IRISCC, we are committed to advancing in-depth knowledge of ecosystem dynamics and the risks posed by climate change. Our research helps to understand the complex interconnections between biodiversity, ecosystem services, and climate resilience, providing the scientific foundation necessary for effective restoration strategies.
By aligning our efforts with the goals of the Nature Restoration Law, AnaEE-ERIC is dedicated to enhancing ecosystem restoration, promoting sustainable development, and ensuring the long-term health of Europe's natural environments. This collaborative approach is essential for meeting international biodiversity commitments and securing a more resilient future for all.
