Vienna, Austria – April 27 to May 2, 2025

AnaEE-ERIC successfully participated in the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2025 in Vienna from April 27 to May 2, 2025. As part of the ENVRI community's significant presence, our team engaged with hundreds of researchers and stakeholders, showcasing our innovative services and collaborative projects.

Highlights from Our Participation

ENVRI Community Presence

AnaEE-ERIC was prominently featured at the ENVRI community's two medium-sized booths (64 and 65), strategically positioned at the conference venue entrance. These booths effectively:

  • Demonstrated the vital capabilities of Environmental Research Infrastructures
  • Featured collaborative projects including ENVRI-Hub NEXT, iMagine, ENVRINNOV, IRISCC, AgroServ, AMRIT, GEORGE, interTwin, Blue-Cloud 2026, ATMO-ACCESS, and partnerships with digital infrastructures like EGI
  • Provided opportunities for meaningful engagement through discussions, presentations, and interactive activities
Popular Lunch Talks

Our participation in the ENVRI Community Lunch Talks was particularly successful, offering attendees convenient opportunities to engage with our members. On Tuesday the  29th of April our Scientific Officer Biljana Đorđević presented AnaEE research services, and was positively surprised by the engagement.

"Our recent participation in the ENVRI Community Lunch Talks proved highly successful, providing an accessible platform for attendees to connect with AnaEE-ERIC and learn more about our mission and research services, showcasing the vital role we play in supporting cutting-edge environmental and ecosystem research across Europe," she says.

The following day AnaEE-ERIC Director General, Michel Boër presented the AgroServ project, coordinated by AnaEE-ERIC and offering 170+ research services to support the agroecology transition.

Noteworthy Scientific Sessions

AnaEE-ERIC representatives contributed to several high-profile scientific sessions:

  • Monday, April 28 | 16:15–18:00 | Hall A - Poster session: Climate change research: new insights from lysimeter and ecotron experimental platforms with Alexandru Milcu
  • Wednesday, April 30 | 11:30-11:40 | Room 2.95 - Oral presentation: goFlux: A user-friendly tool for calculating GHG fluxes regardless of experience with Klaus Steenberg Larsen
  • Wednesday, April 30 | 10:45-12:30 | Hall X1, X1.20 - Poster session: Microbial nitrogen cycling in wetland forests with varying management statuses across Europe with Tuula Larmola

Additional sessions were available in the full program at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) website.

Community Engagement

Several AnaEE staff members were present throughout the event, including Director General Michel Boër, Scientific Officer Biljana Đorđević, and Communications Officer Amanda Ölander.

"It was a great opportunity to meet face-to-face with people from our community and beyond," said Amanda Ölander, Communications Officer at AnaEE-ERIC. "Further collaborative efforts were discussed and an endless flow of researchers and other ecologists showed a great interest in the funding opportunities that are offered through the various Horizon Europe Projects. The energy and enthusiasm we encountered have already catalyzed several new potential partnerships that we're excited to develop in the coming months."

Looking Forward

The connections established and knowledge shared at EGU2025 will significantly enhance AnaEE-ERIC's collaborative efforts in advancing environmental research infrastructure across Europe. We look forward to implementing the insights gained and strengthening the partnerships formed during this influential event.
