In the upcoming AgroServ Connect webinar\, we explore how IBISBA serves as a critical catalyst in this journey. As the premier EU Research Infrastructure for Biotechnology\, IBISBA provides the advanced bioprocessing facilities and expertise necessary to transform raw laboratory findings into standardized\, industrial-ready solutions. \nA standout example of this integrated approach is the work of Professor Sonia Khoufi (University of Sfax\, Tunisia). Her research addresses the complex challenge of managing underutilized Mediterranean waste streams—specifically seagrass wrack and local biowastes. Through the AgroServ Transnational/Virtual Access program\, Prof. Khoufi utilizes specialized fungal enzyme pretreatments to enhance the anaerobic co-digestion of these materials. The goal is two-fold: maximizing methane potential for renewable energy while simultaneously producing high-quality\, nutrient-rich digestate. This project demonstrates how leveraging European RIs can lead to the development of eco-friendly biofertilizers that restore soil health and reduce reliance on synthetic chemical inputs. \nRegister to join here.
